The Tamasi project is one program, described by common goals, results and strategies, but on the operative level many different operators and subprojects cooperate.
On the local level the organizations work mostly independently, sometimes in collaborations with each other. The local implementation is the base for reaching most of the important program results: access to performing art (outreach, productions and performances, spaces, children), capacity building, actions for sustainability in the implementing organizations and a stronger, independent performing art life in the region in order to promote constructive dialogue and freedom of expression.
Tamasi has partners in Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon. It is represented in Egypt through El Warsha Theatre Company in Cairo, Al Tanboura in Port Said, I-act in Alexandria, and Studio Emad Eddin in Cairo, and Temple Independent Theatre Company in Cairo. Tamasi is represented in Jordan in Al Balad Theatre in Amman. It is represented in Palestine in Al Harah Theatre in Beit Jala, Ek-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe in Ramallah, and Theatre Day Productions in Jerusalem. In Lebanon, it is represented through ATTC which also collaborates in Bahrain and Jordan as well.
The Tamasi project focuses on the young generation in the implementation, such as reaching a young and new audience, capacity building for young artists, development of children and youth theatre, audience building, cultural exchange and creating networks.
Tamasi is also “an agreement between eleven Arab performing arts organizations identified by Dramatiska institutet for their experience, commitment, and strong artistic vision in a social context, aiming to contribute to the development of a more sustainable, viable and vibrant performing arts life in the societies where they operate.”
