Al Madina Theatre Association For Arts & Culture in collaboration with AGONISTIK for Performing Arts (AFPA) is pleased to announce the 1st KALEÏDOSCOPE - مِشكال: YOUTH FESTIVAL FOR ALL ARTS to be held Al Madina Theatre from SEPTEMBER 17 to SEPTEMBER 21, 2012.
KALEÏDOSCOPE aims at promoting cross cultural exchange through artistic creativity and dialogue. It will operate as a forum for alternative art enthusiasts, musicians, photographers, theatre and film makers, and other performing artists.
KALEÏDOSCOPE is a chance to experiment with new ideas, participate in collaborations or take a work of art in an entirely different direction. This involvement with KALEÏDOSCOPE will increase national profile, and extend creative networks for the future.
KALEÏDOSCOPE will not only showcase performances but also include a program involving lectures, workshops, talks and social activities. The participants can learn from professionals in the field, collaborate with one another, and develop new skills.
KALEÏDOSCOPE candidature is open to university students, fresh graduates, Institutes & 12th Grade students. KALEÏDOSCOPE is also encouraging Lebanese graduates and students abroad to apply and showcase their work.
CONDITIONS
· The proposed projects can be categorized by the following:
EXHIBITION - PHOTOGRAPHY, FINE ARTS
FILM - VIDEO ART
INSTALLATIONS
LIVE PERFORMANCE - THEATRE, DANCE, MIME, PUPPETS
MUSIC - INTERPRETATION, COMPOSITION, STORYTELLING
WRITINGS/READINGS - POETRY, DRAMA, SHORT STORY
· Projects are not limited to any language(s).
· Company director must ensure all involved members are available for the entire duration of the Festival from the get in date to the final performances.
· The following are the submission fees required upon sending proposed projects:
EXHIBITION - PHOTOGRAPHY, FINE ARTS: 2,000 LBP per item
FILM - VIDEO ART: 8,000 LBP
INSTALLATIONS: 6,000 LBP
LIVE PERFORMANCE - THEATRE, DANCE, MIME, PUPPETS: 12,000 LBP
MUSIC - INTERPRETATION, COMPOSITION, STORYTELLING: 6,000 LBP
WRITINGS/READINGS - POETRY, DRAMA, SHORT STORY: 6,000 LBP
· Pieces should have exceptional craft with a clear sense of ownership and commitment from the people presenting it, whatever the category. Selection is not based on personal taste or emotions but the jury must be effected by the piece.
· The selection committee will consist of eminent personalities from the world of arts as appointed by the Board of Al Madina Theatre.
· The decisions of the jury will be full and final.
· In cases of copyright infringement, whether local or international, the submitting producer shall be held directly responsible. The Festival Secretariat will not be held liable.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
⁃ Detailed technical rider. Make sure it includes:
- Stage space needed: Width: _____ m. Depth: ______ m. Height: _____m.
- Set design and dimensions
- Plans for transporting stage set
- Sound and lighting plans
- Stage plan, light plan, sound equipment, and any other technical information
⁃ Press cuts
⁃ Your best representative DVD of the performance (full length, in addition to existing trailers)
⁃ CD with still images
⁃ Original version of the below filled application form
⁃ Any other support material you think is relevant
