Parkour is a movement philosophy also known as "the art of displacement" .It is all about moving from point A to point B with minimum energy consumption. To those who are dedicated to Parkour it is a discipline.
Parkour is a discipline that melds elements of martial arts and gymnastics in which practitioners move along a route, typically in an urban environment, trying to overcome obstacles in the quickest and most efficient manner possible through a combination of jumping, climbing and running.
Joe Zgheib founded and established the Lebanese Parkour Team in 2010; a small collective of around 40 male and female thrill-seekers between the ages of 7 and 25 who are united by a quest to test their physical limits. Training sessions lasting an hour and a half are held in the L’Institut Technique des Freres in Gemmayzeh four days a week. Two sessions a week cost $40 a person. LPK began new training sessions in Jbeil city every Tuesday and Thursday. For more information contact the LPK on info@lebaneseparkour.com or call 03119732.
Parkour shares the same discipline as Theatre of the Edge in both a literal and metaphorical manner. Stay tuned to find out when you can witness the explosive collaboration between the LPK and AFPA during MISHKAL: a youth festival for all arts in Al Madina Theatre.
