colorRED Fundraising Event - change the way your neighbor acts towards HIV/AIDS

“Positively United for a Positive Cause”

This first ever ‘RED’ fundraising Event aims to make a change - for the better – at the way society thinks and acts towards people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

coloRED’s motto highlights that referring to a negative HIV status as "clean" implies that people who are positive are dirty. It's time to change the way we think about HIV.

"Red" the first event of its kind in the Middle East is scheduled to take place on the 18th September, 2012, at SKYBAR. ColoRED in association with Marsa Sexual Health Center, invites you to take part in this RED Event.

Tickets are sold at 100,000 LBP and will include entertainment and open bar, as well as live performances by several famous artists. There will also be a draw for over 100 valuable prizes in addition to a ‘RED Happening’ wall of fame with live snapshots of our supporters located at the entrance of the SKYBAR.

During the event, the official ColoRED website will also be launched. It will contain information about HIV, how to cope and live with the virus, how to protect and be protected, plus a list of medical centers in Lebanon and the Middle East.

About ColoRED:

ColoRED is a philosophy and a mission initiated by Moe Khadra and followed to-date by over 1,000 supporters. It is an interactive social network and project-base concept which aims at combating prejudice and violence against individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

ColoRED is a statement about the lack of awareness and knowledge by the population at large. It is a rebellion against discriminating governments, a supportive resource for positive individuals who have to bear intolerance and narrow-mindedness and are unable to defend themselves.

ColoRED has its sights set on creating awareness of HIV in a region where prejudice and stereotyping dominate and aims at making HIV positive people stand up, defend their cause/rights and help their “in-denial” peers realize that HIV is like any other virus, that support and tests can be completed for free and anonymously, that their lives would only have to be a Positive Life….a Happy Life.

About Marsa:

Marsa was officially formed and registered in Lebanon as a non-profit NGO to act upon the crucial need of providing ‘sexual health services’ in a friendly environment free of stigma and discrimination to youth of all sexes, genders and sexual orientations.

Marsa Sexual Health Center started operating in Lebanon in 2010. Marsa is managed by efficient professionals to ensure a continuous psycho-social medical assistance and support to people’s sexual issues, disregarding their sexual orientation, religion, nationality, race, …etc.

Marsa is carrying out the highest number of free rapid tests for HIV, Hepatitis B and C in Lebanon, and Syphilis tests at a minimal fee, for example, at US$7 for a psychological counseling session.

Marsa’s Special Care is provided for people living with HIV through a specialized psychological counselor, a social worker and a dietetic counselor. In addition to free medical attention from a medical doctor specialized in infectious diseases. The collaboration with other medical organizations aims to provide additional free and anonymous testing.

The services provided are all private, confidential and anonymous.
